What is CareCredit?

CareCredit is a specialized credit card designed to help you finance medical expenses over time. This card provides a line of credit specifically for health-related purchases, enabling you to pay for medical devices, cover deductibles, or finance treatments that insurance may not fully cover. You can use CareCredit for a diverse array of health and wellness needs, including dental care, gym memberships, weight loss procedures, and sleep studies. This card can be used to purchase medical devices such as portable scooters, power wheelchairs, lift chairs and more!

Owned by Synchrony, one of the leading private label credit card issuers in the United States, CareCredit functions similarly to store-specific credit cards. It is limited to certain types of purchases and is not affiliated with the broader Mastercard or Visa networks.

Currently, over 200,000 healthcare providers accept the CareCredit card. To use it, you must first be approved for credit. The card also requires minimum monthly payments and may offer special promotional financing options spanning 6, 12, or 18 months, depending on eligibility.

Where can I use my CareCredit Card?

The CareCredit credit card is accepted at hundreds of thousands of locations, including partners like Walgreens, Walmart®, and Sam’s Club*. Please search online to find a doctor or business in your area that accepts CareCredit. If approved for the CareCredit Rewards Mastercard, it is accepted everywhere Mastercard is accepted.

How is my CareCredit Card different from my other bank cards?

CareCredit extends special financing offers you can’t get when using your Visa or MasterCard to pay for health, beauty and wellness care at enrolled providers. With shorter term financing options of 6, 12, 18 or 24 months no interest is charged on purchases of $200 or more when you make the minimum monthly payments and pay the full amount due by the end of the promotional period. If you do not, interest is charged from the original purchase date**.

CareCredit also extends longer term healthcare financing for 24, 36, 48 or 60-month periods with a 14.9% APR until paid in full and Equal Fixed Monthly Payments (required). Purchases of $2,500 or more qualify for the 60-month offer (24, 36 and 48 financing terms are for purchases of $1,000 or more**).

For more information, check with your provider to confirm the current promotions offered at their practice location.

I was told I can avoid paying interest, so why is there an interest rate listed on the application?

With No Interest if Paid in Full promotional financing options, no interest will be charged on your promotional balance if you pay your balance in full by the end of the promotional period. If you do not, interest will be charged to your account from the purchase date. Promotional financing is only available at providers in the CareCredit Network and select retailers, but not everywhere else Mastercard is accepted. For those purchases, standard account terms apply.

Is CareCredit a form of insurance?

No. CareCredit is a healthcare credit card that does not replace medical insurance policies that you might have. It is intended to help you pay for out-of-pocket expenses  not covered by your health plan.
